Lily Pad Lake and Buffalo Mountain

Lily Pad Lake and Buffalo Mountain

8/22/2022: An enjoyable and fairly easy hike. The trail is a bit Rocky in places but quite navigable. Some folks might want to use their trekking poles. There are lots of flowers to include the Blue Bell and several fireweed because there have been fires up here of late. Lily Pad is a beautiful little lake. You will come to two lakes. The first one is totally full of Lily pads and the second, bigger, has beautiful reflections of Buffalo Mountain if you get a nice calm day the way we did today.

Marg’s Notes: Uh oh! Marg has been lazy. Stay tuned for notes. Slacker! 😝

Rod’s Ramblings from the Trail: Starting the hike at 7:55. Right at the trailhead we saw a big fox. It is 57° or a little chillier. A very pleasant trail. And make sure to go during the middle of the week. Still wildflowers out, and some pleasant little streams. Lodgepole Pine. We have seen very few people but will probably see quite a few on our way back. Go early. A good morning hike. Highest elevation was right at 10,000 feet. The lake was about 9,800 feet.
